Q: Where is my frigging key?
A: If you backed us on Kickstarter or bought a key on our online shop we have sent your key via email. Unfortunately, those emails sometimes end up in spam, promotion or even trash folders. You might want to check these, first. If you are still missing your key, please contact us at support[at]rockfishgames.com. We are happy to help.
If you purchased an ASUS ROG product that is bundled with a full version of EVERSPACE you can redeem your code here if you are from the US or here if you are from Europe.

Q: What about Linux Support?
A: Unfortunately, there are still some technical issues when running EVERSPACE under Linux on rigs with AMD graphic cards. These are related to the shader handling deep down in the Unreal Engine which is why we won’t be able to fix those with reasonable effort. However, for many Linux users the unofficial release of EVERSPACE for Linux on Steam works fine. You can follow the discussion in detail on the EVERSPACE Community Hub on Steam.
Q: Will EVERSPACE run at 60 / 120 / 144 fps?
A: Of course, the framerate depends on your rig as well as the screen resolution and the graphics settings that you are running the game at. EVERSPACE was designed to run at 60 fps with the highest graphical setting at full HD resolution on our dev rig with an i7 CPU running at 3 GHz, 16 GB RAM, Nvidia 760 GTX and Windows 8.1. You can find an in-depth benchmark with various quality settings, resolutions and hard configurations from our friends at ASUS, here.
Q: Was the quality of the PC version toned down because of the console version?
A: We did not make any compromises on the quality of the PC version to have an easier life on consoles. Our lead artist would have jumped right out of the window if we had wanted him to do that – you got to know that we work on the 4th floor and we surely didn’t want to lose him. Of course, for the console version we had to reduce the quality, but we needed to do that any way to make EVERSPACE run smoothly not only on high-end gaming PCs.
Q: Will VR support make the quality in EVERSPACE running in non-VR mode suffer?
A: VR is very important to us as we believe EVERSPACE is a perfect fit and we know from your feedback during Greenlight and here at Kickstarter that many of you want it too. As we know from our mobile background how to cope with lots of different screen resolutions, CPU and GPU performance as well as various input schemes, we will make sure that EVERSPACE runs w/o any compromises at full awesomeness with all bells and whistles as a pure PC game and also very polished with our preferred VR gear. We will provide a comprehensive set of graphical options to adapt the quality of EVERSPACE to your hardware.
Q: What are your plans for DLC?
A: In October 2017, we released the major add-on EVERSPACE – Encounters which adds a new player ship, new gear, all-new factory space stations, additional locations, and new story characters with individual questlines.
Q: When will we have access to the Alpha / Beta / Early Access / Final version?
A: For a self-funded indie studio, it very much depends on how much money we got in the bank and how much we can raise through a Kickstarter, as well as the number of features and content we put into a game. In retrospective, we think that we delivered over 90% of what we promised in the EVERSPACE Kickstarter and pretty much on time.
Update: The Alpha version was launched on April 29, 2016
Update: The Beta version was launched on July 29, 2016
Update: The Early Access version was launched on September 14, 2016
Update: The Final Version was released on May 26, 2017
A: EVERSPACE launched for $29.99 at Steam Early Access on September 14, 2016. During nine months in Early Access, we had only two sales of 20% each, and we decided not to raise the price when the game hit Full Release on May 26, 2017. Following the Steam pricing suggestions for local currencies, the retail price is 27.99 € / £ 24.99, accordingly.
Q: Has EVERSPACE also been released on GOG? How does DRM-free work with Steam?
A: You can get EVERSPACE on GOG DRM-free. On Steam, we are using the client only for distribution and maintenance. Once you have downloaded EVERSPACE, you don’t have to run the Steam client anymore to play the game. You can read more about this here.
Q: Does the location of critical systems on your ship determine the areas the enemies have to hit you to disable the said systems?
A: During extensive testing and gathering early feedback from our Alpha testers, we decided not to over-complicate things. Thus, we made it be random which ship system will be damaged if the player ship is hit while shields are down and other conditions are met.
Q: Can space stations it be destroyed?
A: Large structures like space stations cannot be destroyed in its entirety. However, smaller segments like fuel tanks, turrets, generators, etc. can which also have an impact on the gameplay.
Q: Will there be flyable capital ships?
A: EVERSPACE is a fast-paced space shooter which is why you won’t fly any capital ships – that would be an entirely different game like Dreadnought or Fractured Space. However, the player ships in EVERSPACE come with very different capabilities, offering a great variety in gameplay. If a bigger ship with lots of armor and fire power is right up your alley, you should take a look at the Colonial Gunship.
Q: Will there be Energy Management? (Shields/Guns/Engines/other critical systems; directional shield power (re)distribution)
A: As combat in EVERSPACE is very fast-paced, energy management is a constant balance between firing weapons, boosting engines, and utilizing passive/active devices that can grant significant bonuses to the player. Furthermore, we added a lot of nifty devices, which you can install/craft to, for example, overpower your shields or weapons for a few seconds after activation. They also come with a cooldown of a few seconds after the effect wears off.
Q: Are there friendly AI/squadron/wingmen?
A: We implemented a device called “Mainframe Override” which allows you to turn hostile units into friends. Also, if you got some pesky enemies on your tail and there are too many to cope with, you can fly towards friendly units, and they might help you out. There also are rare encounters in which you will be fighting others alongside friendly ships. They won’t be your official squadron or wingmen, though. We feel it does not fit into the rogue-like concept.
Q: Will there be economy/trading?
A: EVERSPACE features Service Stations and Travelling Merchants where you can trade and buy resources. You will also get offers from NPCs that will sell or buy certain items. However, don’t expect to be visiting larger shops to make a living as a merchant yourself. A proper trading simulation would immensely increase the scope of the game, and we feel it does not fit into the rogue-like concept.
From the makers of the iconic Galaxy on Fire series comes a new breed of space shooter for PC and Xbox One, combining roguelike elements with top-notch visuals and a captivating story.
